Mexico: teaching impoverished children
We decided to teach impoverished children in Mexico after an opportunity was given to us. We contacted the local church in a village in Tecate, Mexico, so that we would be able to schedule a time during the Winter Break.
In the end, we decided to hold the demonstration in the same place vbs (bible study) was held. We did this because there were already people gathered there. First, we showed them a video of our intake for this season, because we thought that our intake was an important component to our robot this year. We paused the video in specific places to explain to the translator what some parts of the robot were, so that they could talk to the children, who did not understand English. Then we showed them a video of one of our regional competitions. After, among the local children, we hosted a lego building competition. The winner received the remaining legos that were not used.
Morninglight education group: Summer scratch camp- July 30, 2018 to August 3, 2018
This event was a week-long summer camp for elementary school kids. During the week, we taught the kids the basics of Scratch programming, and on the last day they made their own games and presented them to the class. This event also helped us with funding for the next season.
Aborn Institute outreach event- December 1, 2017
Morninglight education group outreach event- October 17, 2017
This outreach event was directed towards introducing young children to FIRST and coding via Scratch. The kids had the chance to learn about FTC, FLL (which they were eligible to participate in), play Scratch games designed by team members, and even got to drive our robot around!

Boy scout party- June 1st 2018
What we accomplished in the party:
We told people about the importance of robotics.
We let people experience how to drive our robot and we showed them our building process of the robot.
We told people about the principles of FTC.
Advice to Team NvyUs
We were invited by a new FTC team (they will be officially participating in the 2018-2019 season) to talk to them about FTC and give them some tips. We also brought our robot for a demo and let their members drive it around. Since they are completely new to FIRST, we explained to them how FIRST and FTC worked and some tips from personal experience on how to get started.
